Florida Teenager Gabrielle Turnquest has a habit of breaking scholastic records. After becoming the youngest person to graduate from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., at age 16, Ms. Turnquest achieved another milestone by becoming the youngest person to pass the Bar of England and Wales exam at 18.
An American teenager has become the youngest person in more than 600 years to become a qualified barrister in England and Wales.
At the age of just 18, Gabrielle Turnquest is not even old enough to buy an alcoholic drink in her home town of Windermere, Florida, but she has become the youngest person ever to pass The Bar exams. Her sister, Kandi also passed the bar exam at 22-years-old
The average lawyer passes the Bar Professional Training Course at the age of 27, but Gabrielle was called to The Bar last month through the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn after passing her Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law when she was 17. Although Turnquest is qualified to work in the United Kingdom, she wants to return to America to qualify for the Bar there as well. Turnquest also has an opportunity to qualify for the Bahamas Bar, a goal of hers since that is her parents’ native country.
Turnquest hopes to become a fashion law specialist. At her current rate, there’s no reason not to expect she’ll be successful in her aims there as well.
